Does College Matter?
I thought that this was a very interesting blog. It really got me thinking a lot about myself and my college education and whether or not I’m studying the right field or whether I should try to find something I have a passion for. My major is Electrical Automation and Robotics Technology. Now I didn’t initially go looking for an electrical degree or anything like that I really just ended up in it because I talked to an advisor and told them I like technology, computers, and working with my hands and fixing things. The advisor just recommended this program that I’ve been doing for a little over two years. Now that I’m about done with my associate’s degree and about to start on my bachelor’s I really think that something else that I really have a passion doing would be better. I’ve always had a passion for automobiles and sketch art even though I don’t have any training in either field. I think that the writer of this blog had a lot of good points. Because I’ve always heard that exact thing my whole life that the writer talked about in the blog, that most people think that going to college is just something natural or something that everyone should do in order to be successful and happy in life. It was really interesting the example that the writer used with his daughter that was a really good student in school and after graduating high school decided not to go to college and later found out that she wanted to be a vegetarian cook. Overall I thought that this blog had a very good argument and I agree with the writer when he said that we should focus more on something that we are passionate about and not just whatever field is making the most money at the time.

This anti drug advertisement I also found at Yahoo.com. This one is very strong in it's wording. Mostly because I think this is from the 60's or something. The words it uses appeals alot to the emotional side of the reader. Like I said the words are really strong like for example shame, horror, despair, sorrow, and misery. There are alot of claims on this advertisement as well mostly for the purpose of scaring people from using any illegal drug. Claims like weed has roots in hell and doing this stuff will lead to weird orgies, wild parties, and unleashed passions. Basically this advertisement does a good job at what it was intended to do which is scare the crap out of people so they don't even consider trying drugs.

This advertisement I found at Yahoo.com. This advertisement is one that really appeals to the emotional side of the reader. Because of what it says at the begining "are you aware of all your child's interests?" with emphasis on ALL. And then when it says underneath the pictures "Talk with you child about alcohol and drugs before it's too late.". It appeals alot to the emotional side because of how it makes the reader wonder if they really know all the interests of their children and then it makes them wonder what could happen if they don't do anything before it's "too late".
